With the launch of Apparound API Services, the company is taking a significant step forward in software integration. This new platform leverages a headless architecture, enhances API security, supports business process automation, and introduces standardized, scalable API responses—facilitating seamless integration with CRM, ERP, and e-commerce systems. Below, we take a closer look at the technical advancement of the platform and the benefits for developers, system integrators, and IT managers.
A key innovation is the adoption of a headless architecture, which decouples the user interface from the back-end application. This enables dev teams to tailor the user interface to specific business or customer experience needs without modifying the platform’s core architecture.
This approach streamlines integration with existing systems such as CRM, ERP, and e-commerce platforms, making it less intrusive and easier. Apparound API Services is compatible with cloud-native, hybrid, and on-premises environments, offering a scalable solution that grows along with business needs.
Apparound’s integration services utilize a pragmatic REST approach, designed to accelerate client integration and deployment. The API delivers resources through clear, consistent endpoints, employs standard HTTP methods (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE), and uses intuitive conventions, avoiding the complexity of mechanisms like HATEOAS. This design reduces the learning curve, ensures compatibility with widely used tools and frameworks, and enables rapid, reliable integration.
Security is a foundational element of Apparound API Services. Access is controlled via an authentication system based on API Keys and Bearer Tokens. Administrators can manage API keys through dedicated interfaces, creating, updating, or revoking them as needed. Each key is associated with granular access profiles that define specific permissions (allowed methods, scope, and rate limits).
The platform employs two-step authentication: a temporary Bearer token is generated via a dedicated service, accessible using the same API key. This token is time-limited and can only be used for accessing integration services.
All API communications occur over HTTPS, ensuring end-to-end encryption and protection against MITM attacks. Additional security features include:
The platform adheres to best practices for secure enterprise integration, exposing only authorized endpoints based on key permissions.
Additionally, Apparound’s data governance model complies with current regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR), including controls for data retention, automatic deletion, logical data segregation, and full auditability. This helps make sure that data is managed securely, in accordance with company policies, and accessible only to authorized users.
Apparound API Services enables the automation of business workflows through webhooks and real-time synchronization with third-party systems. For example, users can receive automatic notifications when a quote is created, an order is updated, or a deal’s status changes.
Automation extends to document generation as well. The system can produce personalized quotes based on pricing rules, synchronize them with CRM systems, and export them for electronic signature. These functions significantly reduce manual workloads, minimize errors, and speed up customer response time.
In 2018, Apparound introduced its first integration services—a pivotal step in streamlining data flows between platforms. Today, with the launch of Apparound API Services, the company takes it another step further, delivering a platform designed for enhanced integration and connectivity.
The new version provides more uniform outputs. The Apparound systems enables users to define system properties that are essential to sales processes while adapting to specific customer demands. However, in the previous version, flexibility in defining system properties resulted in heterogeneous output. In order to improve integrations and documentation, we have standardized the API responses related to a set of essential system properties, while all of the other, client-defined properties are mapped on a subset of the “Properties” attributes. Standardizing behaviors simplifies the management of documentation, sample code, and technical support.
The platform also offers significantly more sales process features, emphasizing automation and integration of documentation workflows. Users can now automatically generate contracts from configured data, attach supporting documents for each type of contract, produce files that are ready for signature, and send requests for digital signatures directly through integrated channels.
From a sales perspective, new advanced features include:
These enhancements increase system flexibility and applicability, facilitating adaptation to complex sales scenarios and empowering advanced integration use cases.
All Apparound services are documented according to OpenAPI standards, ensuring transparency, interoperability, and ease of integration. The dedicated API documentation portal, built with Scalar technology and based on Docusaurus, provides comprehensive resources for both platform versions. By integrating the YAML files of OpenAPI v1 and v2 specifications, the platform offers interactive documentation with practical examples, pre-compiled requests, and navigable endpoints—streamlining the development experience and accelerating integration.
